Stop an industrial-sized fuel depot coming to Charvil

I call on LibDem run Wokingham Borough Council to act now and block the development for an industrial scale fuel depot and distribution centre in Charvil.

The planning application (252782) currently sits with Wokingham Borough Council for consultation.

It would see the redevelopment of the former Prince Brother tyre site, on Old Bath Road in Charvil, to an industrial scale fuel depot and distribution centre.

This new depot will see over 800,000 litres of hazardous fuel stored near Loddon Nature Reserve and Lakes, a vital natural habitat for local wildlife.

This cannot be allowed to go ahead:

• Environmental risks from leakage and sewage could destroy much of the natural area should they occur.
• The site is close to schools and populated residential areas. The depot of this nature would bring unwanted risk to our local area.
• Over 130 HGV lorries and trucks would enter and leave the depot every day, damaging our roads. At peak an HGV will arrive at the site every 3 minutes.
• The application does not meet official guidance for visibility splays and therefore is unsafe.
• Risks damaging our natural wildlife, habitats and local ecosystems.
• Our already busy roads cannot take this as additional vehicles will add to what is already a very busy thoroughfare.
