The Wokingham BME Forum will be holding its first virtual meeting next week at 4pm on Tuesday 21 July, to ensure that it can continue to play an important role for our residents at this time.
The agenda for the meeting includes an update from the Borough Council’s Public Health Team on the response to the Covid pandemic and its impact on our BAME communities, and an opportunity for questions with both the Leader of the Council John Halsall and Chief Executive Susan Parsonage.
If you would like to request to join the BME Forum meeting, please email the council at [email protected] and a Microsoft Teams link to the meeting will be forwarded to you.
If you would like to ask a question of the council leader or chief executive, please submit this with your request to join the meeting. Due to technical reasons the capacity for this meeting is limited to 100 attendees and these will be allocated on a first come first served basis. All questions must be submitted by midday on Monday 20 July.
Vice-chair of the BME Forum, Conservative Cllr Parry Batth who represents Shinfield North said: “The forum plays a vital role in the borough by representing the BAME community and I am delighted it is going to meet virtually at this time.”
Wokingham Borough Council BME Forum was established in 2002 and provides a focal point for people with a Black, Asian or minority ethnic (BAME) heritage who live, work and visit the borough to engage with the Council and act as a critical friend about issues that are important to them.
