Wokingham Borough Council is committed to tackling racism. Earlier this summer the council launched a survey in order to better understand experiences of black and minority ethnic people across the borough. The survey closes this week (Friday 28 August), and we encourage all residents to take part.
The responses will be used as a starting point to tackling the blight of racism head on. The council will use the information collected, with representatives of the BAME community and the Wokingham Black and Minority Ethnic Forum, to create a comprehensive action plan that will provide real change where necessary.
Cllr Parry Batth, executive member for environment and leisure and co-chair at BME Forum Wokingham, said: “It’s incredibly important that we to listen to all voices across our borough, which is why we are actively encouraging people to take part in our Tackling Racism Matters survey. Our residents experiences will insight real change and will help form our action plan.”

The borough has an active BME Forum that is supported to be a critical friend and advisor to the council and a strong voice for the black, Asian and minority ethnic community.
