Views sought for new Wokingham library

With work progressing well at the new Carnival Hub, Conservative led Wokingham Borough Council is seeking residents’ input on the look and feel of the library it will contain.

We are committed to keeping all the library features currently enjoyed at the Denmark Street location, such as the lending area, children’s sections, research area and computers but some of the detailed design is still to be decided. Residents are being invited to complete a short online survey to help inform these.

The Carnival Hub will be home to a traditional library – but with scope for a bit extra.

We are not looking to change what people love about libraries, which are places of inspiration, connection, learning and culture. But the new site has more usable space and is also a chance to refresh the look and feel – so we are keen to hear what residents think.

The survey will be available on the council’s website at www.wokingham.gov.uk (search consultations) until 29 August 2021.

As well as the library the new hub will feature two swimming pools (a six-lane 25m pool and teaching pool with moveable depth floor and splash pad); a larger fitness suite and specialist group cycling studio; large studios which can also be used for events; a four-court sports hall which can convert into a performance venue with bleacher seating; a spa, long term health gym; larger café; and viewing areas.

This is the final stage of Wokingham Borough Conservatives' ambitious regeneration scheme for Wokingham Town to deliver what the people requested.
